Day 333: Yearbook Birthday Card
I recreated the cover of Call of Duty Black Ops as best I could without the same fonts. This birthday card image was for one of my students (MARK).

Day 322: Painted Cabrillo Lighthouse
I'm addicted to the painted effect right now... I'll most likely burn it out and not go back to it for a long time. We'll see :)

Day 327; Antonio Gates Part3
I love this shot! Gates had a great sense of humor through the shoot and his playfulness shows as he emerges from the "ground".

Day 326: Antonio Gates part2
Second post. The shoot was on a cold night and Gates spent time under a constant spray of water from a firehose. He had a great attitude and was really nice to the kids who showed up to watch the shoot.

Day 325: Antonio Gates part1
Several weeks ago I was lucky enough to take photos of Antonio Gates while he was filming a ESPN spot for Monday night football. I had to sit on these photos until the spot was aired during tonight's Monday Night Football game. It was hard not to show anyone these shots but over the next few days I'm going to post some of my favorite shots.
What a fantastic opportunity!

Day 324: Comic Cabrillo
Continuing my Cabrillo themed designs, here is another photo I took at of the lighthouse at Cabrillo. I used a surface blur, added grain and applied multiple color halftone patterns to the image to create a comic style effect. I dropped in some text and applied some layer styles on the text using some of the blues from the window.

Day 322: Paint and Color Pencil
I merged together two separate art tutorials (the colored pencil one from a few days ago and this one). I started with the impressionist painting and followed the steps up to the selective color settings. I then went through the colored pencil steps but skipped the selective color settings on this one as well. I found the selective color settings to be a bit too strong and wanted to stay closer to the original color scheme.
Way fun!

Day 321: Painted Surfer
Here's a picture I took of a surfer near Cabrillo park over the summer. The painted effect was created using a series of filters.

Day 320; Mosaic Circles
This was an easy technique to create an interesting result. I created the first one using an 8pixel pattern and the second one using a 20 pixel pattern,

Day 319: Colored Pencil Comparison
The "Blah" version was created using the default colored pencil filter in photoshop. The second image was created using a series of 10 different filter applications including blurs, smudge stick, film grain and paitn daubs. I didn't use all of the same settings as the tutorial, choosing instead to reduce the dark black outlines.

Day 311: WaterPolo
I'm buried in yearbook deadlines so there have been (and will most likely continue to be) a glut of yearbook related designs since I have little time for other stuff. Here is a tweaked out version of a great photo from one of my photographers.

Day 308/309; More Yearbook Sidebars
More "painted" images. The hardest part was figuring out which images would work with the triangular flourishes. With all of the time I spent on this I'm counting it as two "days" worth of work.

Day 305: Carpet Text
Using one of the layerstyle preset from yesterday I added a fabric texture to create a glossy, carpeted look. The background is a series of roughed up brushes and colors. I added some lighting effects and lens flare set to screen to add variation to the background.

Day 304: 15 Layer Styles
I found some create Layer Styles (some of which actually look pretty good). Here is the link to download the presets.
